Dr Dunstone established Biometix in 1998 to provide experienced, independent biometric consulting resources to governments and organisations. In 2002 Biometix successfully implemented the prototype of SmartGate, the world’s first fully operational face recognition automated border control system.
Since then Biometix have been providing strong unbiased advice about all aspects of biometric systems for many government and corporate clients in Asia, Europe and the US. We also have a strong commitment to research and development having published pioneering papers in the area of biometric analysis techniques for which we received a best paper award from the IEEE in 1997. Biometix was also awarded the prestigious “Most Innovative Security Product” at The Security Summit, held in San Diego in 2010.
Dr Dunstone also founded the Biometrics Institute in 2001 responding to an industry need for an impartial forum for sharing knowledge and information about biometrics. By August 2015 the Institute has grown to include 180 organisations (650 individuals) from 24 different countries.

Dr Ted Dunstone
Founder and Managing Director
Dr Ted Dunstone is the CEO and founder of Biometix and was also the founder the Biometrics Institute. He has personally provided consultancy and biometric evaluation services over the last fifteen years to a wide range of government agencies and organisations. He is a frequent speaker on the application of biometrics and is well known within the international biometrics community. He is currently the chair of the technical committee of the Biometrics Institute as well as the Biometric Vulnerability Experts Advisory Group. In 2008 he co-authored a textbook on biometric data analysis, published by international textbook publisher, Springer.
Ted Dunstone holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of South Australia and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wollongong and was awarded the NSW Pearcy Award which is given for innovative and pioneering achievement and contribution to research and development within the IT&T industry.

Scott has had a long history with Biometix, first as a consultant, General Manager and Chief Of Operation. He is an experienced manager and consultant in the biometrics and security industry, with 20 years of experience working across the public and private sector.
General Manager - Principal Consultant
Matt is a skilled and innovative consultant with extensive portfolio of major projects engagements, many at the national and/or enterprise level. A feature of his experience is a strong track record of providing services to Federal Government clients on a wide range of high-value / high risk and politically sensitive Commonwealth programs and initiatives. Matt joined the team as Biometix General Manager and Principal Consultant.
Senior Biometric Consultant
Troy Potter is an international expert in Biometrics having led the US Visit Biometrics program and worked as a subject matter expert to the UK Government. Troy is currently working as a Subject Matter expert for the Department of Immigration and Border Protection on their Biometric system refresh.
Stanley is an accomplished application developer with significant experience in the development of biometric systems including the development of Biometix’s key systems – Performix and BxBroker.
Stewart is responsible for the analysis of internal and external biometric solutions across a range of projects. Stewart is also a Business Analyst providing support to our clients when developing their system/project requirements.
